Your Skipper

My passion for diving started in the 1970’s when Sunday evening telly showing the ventures of Jacques-Yves Cousteau aboard Calypso, and at eight  years of age being taken to the local cinema in Wells Somerset to watch Jaws...

It wasn’t until 1985 when I joined Wells Diving Club and started by diver training with Bob Elliott the Diving Officer....

Unfortunately  at  17, I was unable to afford to buy the equipment....

It wasn’t until 1989 when I joined the Street Diving Club Branch of the BSAC and as trained by a lovely old lady Barbara Clapp.

By the mid 90’s I was well into my diving having enjoyed the warmer waters of Malta and Gozo for the 1st time in 1995, and at home 1997 I was awarded by RYA Powerboat 2 certificate and  I was now the Chairman of Street Sub Aqua Club and an very active dive marshall  taking the club to  Cornwall, Brixham, Westbay and Weymouth.....

By the end of 1999 I was awarded my BSAC Advanced Diver and BSAC Club Instructor awards and was actively training and diving more aboard, including Egypt, Zante, Croatia, Grand Canaries and Gozo....

In 2005 I moved to Dorset and joined Weymouth Sub Aqua Club where I was the Diving Officer for 5 years....

In 2008 I became a BSAC Advanced Instructor.

One of my roles as Diving Officer was to organise and plan the midweek Hardboat dives where we would hire local skipper the late Paul Pike aboard Extreme and Dive Time (which ended up in Malta and by chance I actually saw her in the Blue Lagoon off Comino)...

By 2017 I formed a new BSAC club ‘Jurassic Divers’  based on Portland, which sole purpose was to simply go diving ....

In December 2019 I founded Jurassic Aqua Sports and the rest is now history in the making....

Covid 19  has not dampened our sprit and I now lucky to bring on a future generation of divers, here I am with my son Luke preparing to dive...

In 2025 David gained his RYA Powerboat Level 2 Instructor qualification and on 20th January 2026, Jurassic Aqua Sports became a recognised RYA Training Centre.
